Intermittent horn / CC buttons - rotary coupler ("clock spring")?

I found taking the airbag off is kind of like the compressor. Once you have done it once it is a two second job and just a little song and dance you do. Sadly I could never fix my intermittent cruise control issues even after replacing the loom, the clock spring, the brake light switch......

I've done it before when i added audio control switch panel to the wheel, still have the airbag clip tool so its only a 2min job to get the airbag off.
Spring arrived yesterday so will replace it today.

Have to revisit this as now my audio buttons hardly work and the wrong function happens when you press a button, i thought the clock spring was the issue but seems its the audio switch pack.
I'll pull it out and give it a clean and see what happens otherwise i'll be on the hunt for another set.

Mine was resolved with contact cleaner on the pins for the switches under the steering wheel cover. Has been fine now for five odd years or more. Just another thought if it’s not the spring.
Eg plug switch where it mate to the board and clean that multi pin contact.

Spring is only a few months olds so i expect it to be the switches, CC switches work fine so it seems to be just the audio side.

I did the cheapie trick and then had the problems you have reported today - all with the audio buttons. Replacement with the LR part caused the errors to stop.

Buttons were playing up before hand so i hope it isn't the spring, still under warranty though. I have the original still so can swap it back in after cleaning the switch pack if that doesn't fix it.

Maybe keep it for a SPARE?
