    Seat covers and Tyres

    Righto.

Time for new shoes. Does anyone have a recommended tyre place North of the river in Perth than won't screw up a D3 fitment and alignment. Inquiries with the mechanic we've used says "Oh we just tell them to leave the tailgate open", which doesn't inspire the greatest in confidence. I'm happy to put it in TTM, wait while the work is done and then reset it myself. The current tyres have been shredded by a bad alignment done by my incredibly reliable and well meaning, but LR illiterate tyre guy. They were pretty much toast anyway, but I might have got another year out of them. Now they are bordering on yellow sticker material.

Second. Front seat covers. It currently has custom jobbies the previous owner had made and sewn on due to the RSE headsets not being removable. They are a neoprene wetsuit style of material and we quite like them, but as they are sewn in place they are impossible to remove and clean. Does anyone have recommendations for nice(ish) seat covers for standard manual D3 seats with RSE headrests?

    Ta.

I have previously used Tyreright in Osborne Park as they do all of Barbagallo’s tyre work so do know Land Rovers. My last alignment was really good and the went to a lot of effort with multiple test drives to get it running nicely (I had an mix of older fronts and new rears so it did make it harder than with fresh tyres all round). I did put it into TTM beforehand anyhow. I was happy. I buy my tyres elsewhere as I use the Maxxis 980 LT. I recall the alignment was a little under $100.

Far out. I can't believe I'm about to put this out to the wider internet for "forever archiving", but it *never* occurred to me to separate the purchase and fitting of the tyres with the alignment.
I've been doing it wrong all these years! Well, probably not. Most of the tractors in my past could/can be aligned in the driveway with a laser pointer, gaffa tape and a tape measure. The D3 is a little more demanding.

Haha. I did many an alignment on the toy cars (to get it to the lasers) using a piece of string, two sewing pins and a ruler. Get the toe-in close enough and you can get anywhere for a proper alignment.

Huh. A seat cover on-line broker. Given they don't have the correct front seat shape for my D3 I'm not particularly confident.

I'm about to order a set of sheepskin front covers from Eagle Wools in WA.
Far from cheap, but tailor made, and amazing responses to my questions so far.
Sheepskin Seat Covers | Car Seat Covers Perth
I have visited them in Perth in the past and been really happy with what I've purchased.
The new covers will even have the Land Rover logo on them (but don't tell JLR!!)

Like DiscoJeffster I used Tyrerite Osborne Park the last time I had an alignment done. Far and away better than the crowd I used in Vic Park once (and never again).... if they took 10 mins doing it I'd be suprised. And the tyres still wore. Tyrerite took their time and included TTM mode for under a 100 bucks.
I've also got Maxxis 980 LT on now but don't like them. They're not wearing well, 38 kay on them and I reckon we'll be lucky to get 50K. Plus they give a 2 year warranty for repairs/replacement..... and then deny any claim if they're used off road!
I did claim for a tyre which incidentally had a different (read earlier) manufacture date than the other 4 because of a porous case leaking air through it. In the end they offered a replacement for a 100 bucks and I accepted that.
When they're worn out I'll get tuffant 18" as there's a better range available for them.

Mine are wearing better than the Coopers LTZ I’ve also used but yeah, I won’t get 50k out of mine. That said I consider 50k ok. That’s a few years for me so by then my tyres tend to get hard and lose their road grip somewhat. I don’t like the noise of them. As
I have one set of wheels, it’s a constant compromise.

I have Escape Gear seat covers. Fit well, good quality, but canvas not neoprene. Not cheap, but very happy with them.

One of the sites they are available in Australia is Remote Travel. Canvas seat covers customized Escape Gear - Remote Travel Products

You can get them directly from South Africa https://www.escapegear.com/product/l...r-seat-covers/
A little cheaper, but faster if not in stock in Australia.
