Unhappy inlet manifold cracked..the hits keep coming... just sharing the pain...

    ok,

so besides a list of issues already being fixes (Bluetooth, lower control arms - gearbox to be done asap, at service today the RH inlet manifold is now cracks... (315,000kms so its done its job I guess..)

Assume the left had in near its used by date (or is that the car all together??)

Jeez, that is some bad luck.
I dont think its common for inlet manifolds to have a used by date....cracked? How the heck did it crack?

Edit - i just read your list.
Control arms are not a big deal at all, I wouldn't consider that a major issue.
Transmission service, same, no big deal.
    Bluetooth - meh!

bluetooth - I thinks its a new head unit as it incorporated - trying to work out whats happening there
    Gearbox is rebuild 7.5k apparently

inlet manifold - is common enough - I have had good luck getting this far...again apparently. so $1,800
control arms (lower) $1,600 (I should do myself really)

Oh gearbox rebuild. ouch. ok my bad.

Inlet manifold - I just did some research, didn't realise they were plastic. looks labour intensive to replace.

    Control arms $1,600 ?
    That is ridicoulsy expensive.

The question is, are you happy to go after market?
All four are selling the lower control arms for $220 each. Its not alot of work todo them yourself, you could knock them over in half a day.
There is tons of online videos on how to do them.

Not for me - no aftermarket pattern parts!

Even genuine changed at dealer is less than $1100

Youd think that someone would come up with alloy or carbon manifolds by now....

Its another addition to the crankshaft/gearbox lottery we D3/D4 owners are playing.

MY11 (built 12.2010) D4 SDV6SE with 197000km and still on original manifolds and crankshaft.
