For an urban triangle type use that voltage is pretty normal.

After it was fully charged I removed the earth lead and let it rest for about an hour then reconnected. Started great but then always has and the only change seemed to be date which had gone back a few years.
Maybe a trip to the stealers if the message comes up again.

    12.5 v is 90% charged. 12.7 is fully charged.
I believe that if you leave the charger on for too long the cranking battery voltage will eventually exceed that of the auxiliary battery and then the system will start to suck power out of the cranking battery to charge the auxiliary. Sorry, my knowledge is very general but I now disconnect my charger as soon as the cranking battery shows fully charged. So it seems what you are doing is correct. I’d be going back to where you bought it and having it checked out.

It seems that disconnecting the earth etc. have had the desired effect and the warning has now gone. I shall monitor it closely.
    Thanks for answers all.

    Battery options and opinions

Reviving this thread. I'm up for a new battery. Tried to revive it with my Ctek charger but no joy. Not dead yet but getting sluggish. Won't charge above ~12.2v

I've eliminated Odyssey from the options based on bad feedback on here.

Slightly worried about the reliability of the SSB based on a few warranty replacements mentioned on here too

So, here's my list. Varta seem to have a good rep but pretty expensive

    1. Varta G14; 850CCA 95Ah,weight 26.4kg
    $570
Varta G14 AGM Car Battery for Stop Start - G14 ISS iStop battery BMW, Audi, Merc 4016987144527 | eBay

    2. Bosch LN5 850CCA 92Ah 22kg
    $435
Bosch ST Hightec AGM - LN5 Battery (Local Pickup) | eBay

    3. Super Start SS88TI AGM; 1180CCA 92Ah, 26.5kg
    $375
SSB STOP START AGM SS88TI LEAK PROOF BATTERY 12 VOLT EUROPEAN MERCEDES BMW AUDI | eBay

    4. Century DIN85LH 850CCA 92Ah 26kg
    $419
CENTURY DIN85LH AGM ISS ACTIVE STOP START BATTERY 36 MONTHS NATIONWIDE WARRANTY | eBay

    5. Delkor LN5 900CCA 95Ah ?kg
    $445
    DELKOR AGM LN5 / SSAGM88EU / MF88HSS START STOP BATTERY | eBay

Thoughts from the brains trust please

    Thanks,
    David

I've been very happy with the SSB - has outlasted the Varta

Couple years - and in fairness the Varta likely had a fault, however never seemed to have the same punch the SSB has to this day.

Also have the SSB aux battery with traxide, likely helping things. Previously this was a yellow top

Have you priced a YUASA? Their batteries in my m/bikes and ATV's have lasted many years. I intend most likely putting one in the D4 very soon.

    Very different beasts.

Almost no parasitic draw and very little electronics in bike and ATV

On the later electronic vehicles - big CCA and big RC along with quick charge take up are the important part.
