Anyway the vehicle had to go into a LR Independent today for a job and they quoted $100 approx to code it. They rang to say the vehicle's KVM is locked and it would be another $5-600 to unlock. I put this on hold until I looked into it further.
Rang the Adelaide dealer hoping that the supply of a new key perhaps included coding considering the cost of them. Well they advised a new (KVM) module would be required as well at an additional cost of $1000+ coding labour!
Has anyone been down this path and able to offer the most cost effective solution please? Thanks in advance.
Hi Matt
this quote is from the Gap manual. I suspect they will need the write a code for you which will require you to do a firmware update. They did in my case and it worked perfectly.
“If upon programming the process fails with Error E7, please contact us for assistance. This willoccur on certain KVM firmware version. Keys can be programmed but the process requires us to provide a file to relfash the KVM”.
I would not throw money at Land Rover yet!
cheers
