Thread: ARB Compressor under Rear Seats D3

We ran a single cylinder ARB unit under the rear seat of a GQ for years without any issues.

The twin cylinder naturally produces more heat so cooling will be an issue to consider...they have a fan and thermal cut out don't they?

....I know they are darned heavy!

If you have a 7 seater i would consider fitting under the middle seat so its not in the way when getting into the rear seats, you can still run the the hose connection point close to the door opening.

I would be concerned about the heat - I have two different compressors and both will burn skin when at normal operating temperature.

Son's mate has one in the storage metal box behind the Perenties seat which also has some gear in it meaning the air space around the ARB is quite small. There's also no direct air flow and so far so good. Guess it will cut out if it gets too hot.

A mate has his compressor in the exact location you speak of. No issues & he's happy. He's done loads of remote touring also. Hope this helps.

This is where mine is going, when I get around to mounting it. I've got an ARB and and old Blue Tongue that I'm going to set up together in a sort of ARB Twin/Twin Tongue Frankenstein's monster creation....

Just be aware of the height in case you need to drop the seat down as you don't want to short out some wiring.

The other place to put a single cylinder ARB air compressor is in the engine compartment, on the passengers side, between the battery and the headlights. There are some M6 or M8 threaded inserts that a home made bracket can be made to fit.

There are photos on AULRO or I can take one if necessary.
