    There are supposedly1200 (iirc) differences between a D3 and a D4 and a lot weren’t just cosmetic.

However, there have been improvements within each model. eg each release of D4 was ‘better’ than the last. Traction control and stability control included.

    All great cars though 😊

We owned both our D3 and D4 at the same time for five years and for long distance driving interstate we easily preferred the D3 over the D4 and our D4 is the very top spec car with all Disco options as standard including the top end optioned comfort soft leather seats.
The D3 had a far more comfortable ride which included believe it or not the seats, both Disco’s had Captains chairs which I prefer.

I to preferred the D3 dash, far more practical than the D4, I would not have moved my D3 on if it had not had a engine failure and in hindsight I should have spent the money and put another engine in it.

The D4 has proven to be far more reliable and with much lower maintenance costs than the D3 though, but I put most of that down to it being a V8 petrol which gives very few problems if properly maintained.

I’m noticing given the advancing age of the D3 the headliner material is separating especially from the tight inside curves above the 2nd row. Does it eventually fall and has anyone gone and had it repaired? I imagine taking out the roof panel is a solid weekend’s work.

I'd be taking it to a motor trimmer and ask for a quote.

    D3vsD4

I had this mob refurb our 2007 L322 and Peugeot head lining. They did a good job, but not cheap esp with sunroof. One thing they couldn’t do was sun visors. The material they used was probably better than original, but doesn’t quite match original trim on sun visors.

My folks just got mine done over in Mt Pleasant while I’m trapped in hookturnistan. Was $800 drive in / drive out including the a pillars and the pics look nice. Won’t get to see it in person until nov/dec. Had a new leather gear stick boot made too which looks schmick. That was a gift, so not in the headliner cost.

I was expecting a lot more, so I also asked for a quote if I did I the removal/install myself and would have saved $300. For that, they can do it!

I’m not clever enough to have come up with that one. I heard it elsewhere, so pass it on.

On my original post, now having been back a month or so the headliner on the D3 is pretty nice. Well worth the $800 to get it and the pillars done. Wish I’d done the visors as they are getting saggy now too (a bit like me). I’ll pop the off one day and get them done too.

Well, it beats all the other 'stan jokes about Victorizuela. Strictly speaking it's about Melbourne, but most rural Victorians think it's all about Melbourne anyway.
