Removing double sided tape glue from console

I've just trying to remove some residual double sided tape glue from the right hand side of the centre dash area near the transmission/transfer case controls (from relocating Tim's Traxide 160 control unit) and the glue is somewhat difficult to remove, with metho and kero not able to do anything. I've also tried gritty hand cleaner (citrus yukoff type), with limited success.

Initially, I'm not game to try petrol in case it affects the underlying grainy plastic surface, so anyone have recommendations/tips please?

    Do not use petrol.

Try turps. This does not harm anything in your vehicle.

Eucalyptus oil usually removes most things with no harm as well.

There are citrus based goo removers specifically for this purpose. DeSolveIt an Goofoff(?) from supermarkets and bunnings. Works well.

Olive oil from the kitchen may also work. Leave it on for a while. Test with a finger nail until the adhesive softens enough to wipe off. Clean with a bit of mild soapy water. We use it to get the glue off jars etc.
    Don.

Tea tree oil is also effective on most goops like that if you have any lying around.
