I’ll let you know once it’s been done by the mobile independent guy I’m using. I call it partial because there’s always some fluid left behind in the circuit somewhere but it’ll be as much as can be removed without access to one of those pump/machine flush units.
Note; steel pan not relevant for 8 speed. And a full rebuild etc can wait for another 100k or maybe more. We shall see.
Dunno about LG8 but I normally pay around $40 per litre for LG6, it could probably be found cheaper but because it's oil I seem to forget to order it.
Interestingly today the dealer decided that they wouldn’t do a partial flush (again) and would only replace fluid with filter/pan as it could “destroy the transmission”. This despite quoting the job prior to me booking it in and that they did it for me a couple of years ago.
I’m at a bit of a loss as to what to even think about that.
Also, despite me advising in advance that I wanted the coolant manifold replaced they didn’t have the part and would have to order from Melbourne so wanted to keep the car for a couple of days. I politely declined.
Not happy Jan. This may be last visit there I think.

Hi David,
Not sure how motivated or mechanically minded you are, but changing the coolant outlet is pretty easy the part costs about 60 AUD delivered from the UK landrover suppliers. At the same time you should do a coolant flush and refill.
A transmission fluid change is a bit more involved, but doable if you just want to change the pan, gasket and filter.
As suggested a reputable indie should be able to help you out if you don't have the time nor inclination.
