My car is 10 years old, at 250k the brake lines are fine. Inspect them or have a mechanic check them. Keep your cash

Gee - you like living dangerously. Rubber starts to break down after 7 years - probably a good reason why LR say you MUST replace flexible brake lines every 6 years.

I've never replaced them in a car in my life.. even the pulsar in the driveway which is 20 isn't showing signs of wear.

Only the price.. Rubber has also gotten better over the years.. Not worse. Not to mention rubber on brake lines is built to a standard

They breakdown on the inside while all looks good on the outside.

Very similar list for me in about a week, which will be slightly over 6 years and 125,000km. I’m also having the transmission filter changed, ie new pan with integrated filter and associated partial flush. Already had a partial flush at 5 years. Coolant outlet at this one and leaving belts until 7 years.

    Cheers,

205000km and 10years next month. New brake lines and caliper overhaul kit all round sitting in my garage ready to go in. New brake lines are cheap compared to a hose rupture and its consequences. They degrade and swell/expand, losing brake efficiency and caliper pressure.

Braided lines not needed imho, i save that for my motorbikes...
