No… ‘it’ doesn’t ‘you’ use more fuel![]()
So I read all the post and bought the idrive fir my 2012 tdv6 2.7
WOW awesome
I use U2 aggressive enough for me - almost no lag
If u put it in AC (auto) wham drives like a rocket .. a tad too aggressive ... but no lag at all
Highly recommend
Question do we think it uses a bit more fuel ?
I think it does ... but who cares
Boomya baby

I finally got to drive mine with the iDrive fitted, the wife has still not mentioned that it has been driving any different. U1, how I had it set for the last week or so definitely improves response. I tried U2, after driving for a 100Km or so, as everyone else seems to say this is the best for them. For me the throttle was too much of a switch on or off and the smoothness gone in U2 mode, so I went back to U1. If I had paid the 'list' price for the iDrive I'd be a bit disappointed, but I didn't so its a nice to have little improvement.

Wow. You find 2 is too sensitive… I’m surprised.
I run mine on Auto, which works on the quicker you mash the pedal the faster it ramps. Love it!
So it's been a while since some of you folks installed your throttle controllers......the first post in this thread was Nov last. I have an EVC throttle controller sitting in the shed and before I chuck it in the D4 I was wondering how things were going?
Has anyone experienced a problem?![]()
Or is everyone as happy as a pig in muck?![]()

Just do it! I run on U3, sometimes in heavy traffic i take it back to U1 or 2. My fuel economy average is down by about 1.0-1.2l/100km (indicated).
It does transform the car, im loving it
Following this post I've been running mine in AC as well, it can be a bit too fast acting on bumpy tar roads, I also found that with U2 on rough dirt roads, but the beauty is you can turn it off, or to Econo mode. The car is much better now at making and carrying speed in tight, twisty, stop, start situations.

Got a near new IDrive unit for sale for $200 incl shipping to anywhere in Oz. My D4 was recently totaled. PM me if interested.
Update on the EVC on my D4, still loving it, now switching between U3 and AC, trying to determine potential fuel economy savings. Preference is still U3, however in heavy traffic AC is better behaved, as U3 is still too "on-off". What's also interesting is the adaptations in the transmission are improved, shift points are just perfect for the degree of throttle application.
Turning it off and the car feels soo sluggish and soft.
Ran the past 3 months on HT (pirelli scorpion ~50% worn) and indicated economy was consistently 9.5L/100km (trip B long term average - note car has ECU flash tune)
Just swapped back to ATs (maxxis 980s ~60% worn) and will see indicated economy. So far increase to 9.6 (indicated on same Trip.
