Disco 4 motor insurance premium just spiked 25%...alternatives?

    Morning All,

Fully comp insurance renewal on my Disco 4 2012 HSE spiked 25% to $965 per annum, one payment in full. Been with same crowd for 4 years with no claims in that period, 65% discount and windscreen cover. When I spoke with them today, they blamed the spike on the increasing age of the vehicle and availability of parts!
Anyone else experienced similar increases? Appreciate any recommendations for an alternative insurer, prefer to go by recommendation than use on-line comparison sites.

    Cheers

x2. They were the cheapest when I needed cover about 5 months ago. My brother is with them and he hit a Roo recently and was looked after well.

I’ve claimed with RACWA before and it was trouble free. I use them for all my insurance. Very happy.

Just make sure it covers everything you need. Including your desired payout should it be written off.

And you may want the option to salvage.

I'm with RACWA and mine went up for the agreed sum insured. I questioned why and they just said costs had increased blah blah.
I did make a claim for a windscreen this year and had to be a touch pushy to get an OME one fitted.
I've dropped the SI a bit and kept the premium about the same as last year.
    AlanH.

PS. If they and other insurers were to stop covering teen loonies maybe costs for old farts vehicles wouldn't be so high.

Huh? If you get quotes from anyone else they’re 20-50% higher, so what are you complaining about now? Sure premium went up - did you ring them and argue it? Typically they will improve it like most insurance companies - not great but typical.

Did you actually ring anyone and compare prices? I do every year and RAC are consistently cheaper.

You’re maintaining the grumpy old man posture perfectly Disco 4 motor insurance premium just spiked 25%...alternatives?

I’ve recently renewed mine with RAC WA. The premium went up 5% and the agreed value dropped by 10% compared to last year with them. They were still the cheapest for the cover and agreed value compared with all the others I got prices from.
