Suspension lifetime

I’m in the market for new struts and have been looking at BWIs from AF and Island 4x4 etc. The question in my mind is whether to aim for D3 or D4 ones. Mine’s a 2007 D3 TDV6, new to me, with some accessories. I’m assuming either will fit, and that D4 struts will give a bit of a firmer ride. Sound about right? Happy to hear about your anecdotal experiences

There are also dunlops which are a bit cheaper, i'd stick with the D3 struts.

AG, island, rimmers etc just work off the part numbers. The struts fit both D3 and D4, there's no difference imho.

Not so confusing. BWI (BeijingWest Industries) has owned Delphi since 1 November 2009 - so Delphi or BWI = same same.

That is right. BWI bought Delphi and still use the same UK factory that the original Delphi struts came from for LR.

The OEM version of the BWI struts are the same as the LR genuine struts with the LR stickers and stamping removed.

You can even see where they ground off the Land Rover logo from the body of the shock absorber which is pressed in during manufacture, and they even have rubbed off the LR logo from the rubber bellow on the rear struts.

Looks like I'm in for some new airsprings then, and the BWI price/unit is looking more better. Did some tests overnight and looks obvious my R/R looked bugged.

Removed F3(5A) fuse, measured from centre of the hub to the fender well.
