I have the Stedi LEDs in the infill and Fyrlyts and a 48” LED bar D4 headlight questions

For around town in darker areas the infill is noticeable.
On the open road - Fyrlyt for the win.
For the tight tracks - LED bar.

Excuse my ignorance, but are the infills the ones closer to the centre of the vehicle - the yellow halogens that come on when high beam is engaged? I understand the HID lift their flap to become high beam and I assume the infill add some more light? These are the ones you’ve replaced with LED?

Eric, what was the Stedi kit you purchased to replace the standard infills? I believe I need this in my life, amongst a number of other things D4 headlight questions

Are the early D4 lights like my old D2a, with one lamp with low beam (that stayed on all of the time), and the separate pocket lamp for high beam that comes in over the top? Is this what you refer to as the "infill" lamp?

My MY14 D4 has one lamp that stays on all of the time and uses a shutter for low/high beam. It has no additional high beam lamp. The pocket lamp inboard is a DRL only.

Correct DJ, the globes closest to the centre of the car, or if standing looking at the drivers side headlamp, the rh globe. They're are stock H7 globe (i checked again and i was incorrect when i said H4 before) and useless in providing any additional light, esp when compared to the xenons.

The bi-xenons do a dual role, as both low amd high beam, not sure how.

I bought this Stedi kit : H7 LED Headlight Conversion Kit Copper Beltd

Dont know about HIDs, im not even sure if the lenses and covers are suited to HID

    Nope. D4 headlight questions

Close though. I carefully folded my heat sinks so they fan out between the reflector housing and back body

    is this to upgrade Xenons?

I upgraded my povo halogens and the Stedi projectors had a small fan in the back of them for cooling - they didn't have the big long ribbon headsink. The only troublesome part was securing the shunt so it didn't bump around.

This was them STEDI™ | HIR2 (9012) Project LED Headlight Conversion Kit

    Bi xenon, HID, halogen…….

How the heck do you know what you have? Mines MY08 SE but the headlights and high beam I always thought were very good.

I did see LR Time did prove they age and decrease over time.

Any form of arc discharge lamp has an output that degrades with time. There is no getting around it. Halogens do also, but the likelihood is a filament break before there's enough degradation to actually notice because in a Halogen the degradation is caused by tungsten migration and it's minuscule. I only raised it to illustrate that Halogens do degrade also.

For the discos it's pretty simple. Halogen == conventional incandescent. Xenon == HID - Gas discharge lamp (High Intensity Discharge).

Please don't replace Low beams with anything other than a direct like for like replacement. High beams you can do whatever you like.
