    Lightbulb D4 headlight questions

Can anyone tell me if they changed the headlights during the D4 model roll out? I had a 2010 Discovery and the headlights were brilliant, it was the first one with the integrated "Eye" lights. I have since bought a 2015 Discovery and the lights are crap! It does not have the "Eye" function.

Anyone else have a problem with bad lights?

They did have a xenon headlight upgrade as an option in the early years of the model run. Don't know if that ever become standard equipment in later years. If not then what you notice now may be the difference between the xenon option back then and standard (halogen?) headlights now.

Upgraded mine to HID's soon after purchase as the halogens were worse than crap.

Mines (MY11) got the bi-xenons with std drl’s and are brilliant. Later models had the bi xenons with the signature led drl’s. I have complemented these with the Stedi copper head led infill lights and led fog lamps. If you can find second hand ones should be an easy retrofit, don’t think you need to modify the ccf either.

the standard halogens are rubbish, bonus is the upgrade is easy.

Woody, it sounds like you have halogens in the 2015.

Your experience is why I upgraded from halogen to xenon, which requires replacement headlights and a CCF update.
All the details are in this thread (link below) especially in the later posts (32 to 36).

My 2013 model had ****ty halogens. Replaced them with aftermarket led kits for high/low beams. Absolutely brilliant and never have to change a bulb again.

Bi-xenon headlights together with Stedi copperhead leds in the infill (H4) lights, also led fog lamps in the 'bar. The single row led light bar completes the set up and gives me good visibility beyond the reach of the headlights.

Our MY12 had Bi Xenon headlights and they were fantastic,we used to drive from Brisbane to the property near Dirranbandi, after work, no spotlights needed.Around 650Km.

The new beast we have has LED headlights, and it's way better than the Bi Xenons, there is no comparison.

Do those Stedi copperhead leds actually make the infill lights worth having Eric ???
I've often thought of trying to do something worthwhile with my infill lights, but so far have not bothered. I have the Bi-xenon headlights and a pair of Fyrlyt Nemesis 9000's, so have some doubts about whether upgrading the infill lights would really give me any worthwhile benefit or not. I'm not even sure what globes would be in mine - would be original as I have never changed them or even pulled one out for a look.

I think youre Fyrelights would cancel any benefit of the infill lights. Theyre a std H4 halogen. For me the Stedi leds make a difference and the light temperature is as close to the xenons as i could get, so they all look similar colour range.
