What Fuel Brand Do You Use & Why?

Not sure if this is covered already elsewhere - Apologies if it is.

Just being a fairly new D4 owner - I'm curious as to what brands of fuel people are putting in their Disco's

Right now I'm using Caltex - Has anyone seen any power/fuel improvements or running/noise improvements etc with different brands over longer periods?

Getting around 620km's before filling with very mixed driving

If talking diesel - I don’t think there is any noticeable difference. My preference is to support companies that still refine fuel here in Australia - but all the refineries typically supply different brands now from the same refinery in their respective states and all done to the same Australian standards.

I dunno what happens up north. But down south here, diesel is diesel. All comes from two refineries(Shell or Mobil).
Makes no difference if you buy from any retailer, it's all the same stuff.
Only difference is the premium which gets an additive added at the time of filling the tanker.
What the additive is, very few actually know.
So if you buy 'el cheapo' premium diesel from one of the independents the premium additive could be different to say BP or Mobil or whatever.

Mate works in tankers and tells me this stuff.
He works for an indie fuel service and delivers from Mobil(and sometimes Shell) refineries to all manner of indies, and BP stations.

I usually buy at a local Metro, who retails at about 5-10c/lt less than everyone else, and in my D1(tdi) it foams up like stupid silly, and the last 10 lt takes longer than the first 70lt!
    So annoying.
Got caught out the other day, in a rush and filled up premium at a BP. In effect close to zero foaming, so the last 10lt took me by surprise and I almost overfilled it over the filler neck!

Have to say, zero difference in the way it runs(on BP premium) compared to all my 'el cheapo' fills prior to this fill up.

Many years ago I filled my ZD30 Patrol up from a certain independent and paid cash. The fuel was cheaper than average. I had used the alpine route from Coffs through Canberra and Jindabyne to Sale and it was running perfectly until about 10km after a fill of cheap diesel and there was a miss which got worse.
I left it at aNissan dealer who confirmed bad fuel, so a new fuel system later and $$$$ I got it back. From then I only used the big three and paid only with my MasterCard and a tax invoice. Yes about 50,000 km later the grenade detonated. 147,000km.
I then bought my new D4, put only premium diesel in it or used mr funnel in suspect outback places and 250,000 km later have no problems. I also keep at least the last 15 fuel receipts to provide a paper trail. I always fill immediately after a trip so to leave no space for condensation.

I always fill up whenever, where ever, never had an issue.
But I do change fuel filter every service, and always keep a spare in the vehicle.

Whichever is cheapest in the area when I need fuel, which is generally BP, Costco or Puma.

BP to collect Velocity points and for their fuel guarantee but I may change soon back to Shell where Flybuys have gone to.

Another vote for BP (Premium) for similar reasons to previous posts. Also, I did a fairly detailed consumption check over a period of twelve months, recording fuel brand (BP,Caltex & Shell), driving conditions, speed, loading etc. and found that I consistently achieved slightly better consumption from BP.

I also found, on a 3 month 23,000km trip that consumption increased about 7000kms after using Nulon Diesel Additive and reduced after redosing. I figured the increase in consumption was due to the injectors fouling up
Since that trip, I add about 80ml of Nulon every 4 to 5000kms which I assume keeps the injectors clean and results in consumption remaining fairly constant, taking into account the other factors that affect consumption.
