    Yes they definately do. I was following a D4 and a RR sport and their brake lights were going on and off the whole time. I personally dont like HDC and use the gears and my fright foot, to manage progress. However I do understand it also works in reverse which could be a life saver in certain circumstances.

    And you know for a fact they didn’t press the brake pedal at all? I’m not suggesting they don’t (I will go and test it) but I’m not sure.

    Yes because I asked them why they were riding the brakes so much!!

    If you had HDC on you were probably using the cars brakes only, hence the hot brakes.

    I don't think the brake controller would operate the trailer brakes without you using the foot brake!

    I've done some pretty steep hills, admittingly without a trailer, and I've very rarely needed to brake, other than to feather. However, I'm usually in 1st gear and maybe 2nd. Never in D. The engine braking on the D3, 4 and 5s is excellent for an auto.
