The fault codes really need to be read. Lowering for safety indicates a fault is occurring with the ABS ecu but the codes will indicate what is amiss.
Many owners have bought their own diagnostic tool for convenience and likely cost savings over time, especially if they do any work themselves.

Justin Cooper on here is the LR guru in Tassy.
But he may be a bit far from you.

As Graeme said, reading the codes is the only way to find out what is going on, without doing this, you are just guessing.

Have had it suggested I get the battery tested as when they start to die they can cause all sorts of issues with the electronics.

Makes sense as the car is lucky to be used once a week and have had to jump start it a few times when have left the doors and tailgate open for too long obviously draining it, battery is about 3 years old now.

Assuming battery and alternator all ok, next place to look is the EAS compressor. The dessicant turns to dust and blocks the valves at each corner. The compressor is serviceable and air lines and valves can be blown out.

Note its perfectly normal for the car to go to normal height from access height if the speed is over 25kmh.

Also check earth connections to the chassis and body from the battery.
