I'm not in WA, but had my D4 MY13 HSE windscreen replaced a month ago. RACV insurance got O'Briens to do the job and refused my request for original glass (car is more that 6 years old was the line). I insisted on seeing the replacement before fitting and it was Pilkington - same as original minus the LR logo. They did a perfect fitting and I am happy.

Just had ours done by O'Brien's, put the aftermarket one in, rain sensor didn't work so they tried to fix it but couldn't, so we insisted they replace it with a genuine LR screen and at first were reluctant, but after some convincing from our insurer and their head tech, they finally agreed.

    Rain sensor now working.

Always insist on genuine, the aftermarket ones are hit and miss, more miss than hit, especially if you have the heated screen or rain sensor or both.
    Cheers Baz.

I've done all that and yes it sits flat but the main prob is the top push in fitting which appears to have been an integral part of the cover has been wrenched off. Heavy handed lot who just ripped the covers off seems to have been the cause of it's breaking. But thanks anyway for your advices.

    Quick update:

Windscreens O'Brien have ordered a genuine LR screen, due here on 27 April, and are asking I take the car into their workshop for fitting.
A bit of a wait and a nuisance, but we didn't have plans for long weekend trip anwyay. And I'll be able to check the job thoroughly before I approve.

Shouldnt go wrong with Obrien, ive had two done by them, both excellent. First was genuine, second was Saint Gobain aftermarket, both worked just fine, including rain sensors. It comes down to the techs installing it.

"It comes down to the techs installing it." That just about sums it up about right. Either they take care and are competent or they're just cowboys who just rip into the job to do it quick and get on to the next job. Actyually my windscreen got a crack a couple of weeks ago but as it's not anywhere near my line of sight I'm waiting until the years up and I'll make another claim on my insurance.
And try to make sure the clowns that did the last one don't do the next.

Alan, when I had mine done at O'Briens Morley, I spoke with the tech first and was quickly satisfied he (and his offsider) knew exactly what was required - one very happy and satisfied Vegemite here.

They knew what they were doing Gavin, it's the way they went about it did the damage. No easing off of the side covers, just ripped away from top to bottom. That's what broke the plugs that hold it in.
