New member and novice to all things LR. Thought I'd take the punt and see how things go and trying to go in eye's wide open.
Been looking for a fairly new D4 SDV6, which has been proving a challenge post Covid and continued price rising on all things old lol.
Anyway think I found one in Melb, had a inspection done and everything has come back all good re-turbo, suspension and all round quality of the car. The only note worrying me is the mechanic noted that the engine wasn't firing properly on all cylinders evenly, needs further testing re compression levels. Possible head or head gasket leakage.
Kinda got alarm bells ringing but know with the age and KM's , that a new head gasket might be just what it needs or is it probably something more sinister. It's a 2014, but the owner must of had to do some serious KM's each year as it's done 180,000km in that time.
Anyone whos had these, had something similar and think they know what it is and is it serious?

Looks like a standard vehicle checklist and not one that specifically looks for any Disco 4 potential issues. I would take a hard pass on this car, unless you can get it inspected by a reputable, independent Land Rover mechanic who really knows these vehicles. It may save you some heartache and $$$.

						You could get the fault codes read which might give a clue to the cause, although it could be something as simple as a very clogged MAP sensor that won't log a fault but can make the engine run very poorly. The MAP sensors need to be regularly cleaned of carbon, done with a spray can of cleaner and nothing else.

						SubscriberWhat about the white, black interior, MY14 SDV6 SE in Rozelle. Low KM at 121K KM and has rear air con. Yes it is $5k more, but still not seriously overpriced.
Is there a specific reason for only looking at the SDV6? Is it the higher power or better standard spec that you are after?

						SubscriberThe 3.0ltr TDV6 and SDV6 are mechanically identical, the extra power/torque is just a different ECU tune. So you can get a TDV6 remapped to SDV6 levels, and above if required.
Spec wise what are the things you definitely want, there are some TDV6s out there with a lot of factory options fitted. That could give you more options.
