Any assistance with answering this question would be appreciated. How was this percentage of 2% of Diesel engines failing in D3/4’s decided upon? I am considering buying a second Disco 4 and while very happy with the V8 was considering another diesel, thus my interest in this 2% number.
It was made up just like 87.68% of all internet statistics.
The real figure is closer to sub 0.2% of all sold.
It sounds more like whether it is 2% or 0.2% it’s at best a guess, which serves no one well when trying to make an informed decision.
The old saying of once bitten twice shy springs to mind as I have already had one Disco die when the 2.7 in my D3 died a rather noisy and painful death after only 110,000 K’s on the clock on what was already a relatively new long engine that I had serviced every 10k, it would be nice to know if there is a stat out there that is based on proven fact that which would be most helpful to everyone who is either considering buying one or for that matter selling one.Last edited by TerryO; 14th August 2021 at 02:35 PM.
