    D 4 2011 250,000 kls---suspension air bag replacement

    Hi there
have just been through the thread on replacement air bags.
My D4 has done 250,000 klicks and I feel it's a bit wobbly these days-- not quite as crisp as it used to be .Having said that, it not nice as a tow vehicle any more.
No real off road except for our 3 klick rough drive way, plus a fare bit of smallish van towing.
Have been quoted $3500 to replace all four corners with genuine parts.
    Any thoughts?

What Tombie said. It will cost you half the cash and take a Saturday in the garage to change them out. Dead easy.

As above, it's cheaper to DIY.

If you are looking to pay for it to be done then obtain a few quotes from the local Land Rover dealer and independents in your area.

There's a longer thread on this already in which there's some price comparisons and there's cheaper options than Advance Factors UK for the same product.

Agree, it’s just easy to quote 1 source and let others shop from there.

Heck, I buy most of my parts and gear from dealers here for less than I can import.

I've done the all 4 shock job in driveway. Took me 2hrs ( am mechanic, have tools) and just last weekend full rebush of control arms. Shocks at 220k and bushes at 270k.

Both jobs make you wonder why you waited so long.. The bushes even more so. The shocks you can do in 2 hrs.. The control arm rebush in 2 days..I got oem assemblies from advanced factors, as everyone else has advised

Agree that it's a bit cheaper to import the gear from the UK.
Have read a lot on this subject and am a bit worried that many people have had major problems with replacement equipment.
Therefore I'm a bit worried that if I get the gear from the UK and it's faulty what then--- No quick returns1
transport from the UK for each corner is about 240 pounds or 450 plus aud.
    Any comments?
I have a hoist and am not too useless at mechanical work but we live out of town and if i screw it up the family car is oos!!

    Thanks

I paid $670 delivered for a pair from the UK. The shipping was $140 for a pair via DHL air.

Shop around. This was from LR Direct.

My 2 cents, I researched the hell out of it. Go BWI from advanced factors. They have a solid warranty.. Shocks on an airbag car should get 100k. No matter Aus or UK. They probably can't be put into a tester without disassembly.
There were complaints about other brands when I bought mine
