Got the rear of the D4 on jack stands at present to service the parking brakes. Found a loose 10mm rubber tube resting on the RH muffler, I imagine its a breather line.
Appreciate if someone could identify where it should be attached and terminated.

Well another Forum appears to solve my mystery providing there is not design changes in this area between the D3 and D4.
The unattached tube should be terminated on a pipe spigot on the fuel filler neck located in the tangle of fuel tank breather lines.
Apparently in a cold climate this breather can be frozen shut????
Will suss it out tomorrow.

Today I pulled the RH wheel arch trim apart and found the mystery tube detached at both ends plus two kilos of compacted dirt. This vehicle has obviously been bogged to the eye balls and despite two sessions with the Gerni there is still dirt trapped in the crevices.Originally Posted by Gravy

SubscriberIt isn't the drain for the fuel filler overflow is it? There is a drain that routes minor fuel spills onto the ground near the mudflap.

The hose was located in the RH rear wing which is not where the compressor is located. Suspension functions AOK.
Yeah that's what I was thinking..
That hose is a distinct shape, should show in the parts diagram

SupporterNo the compressor is not there but that is where the air intake is and the compressor exhaust muffler is (up near the fuel filler) on the inside - the pipes run over to the passenger side on the underside of the car - check to see if one has broken. As also mentioned could also be the drain for the fuel filler that has come away.
