No power at trailer plug for lights

    Hi all
Hopefully you can help me resolve an issue.

Hooked up the trailer and indicators and brake lights work ok but no running lights with the car lights turned on.

Checked fuses 48 and 54 behind the glove box and they seem to be ok checking continuity with a multimeter.

Checked the black trailer plug on the car with a multimeter and there is no power on pins 5 and 7 which I believe should power the trailer lights, these are the top and middle pins with the cross cut in them?

Got power to pins 4, 1 and 6 that power the indicators and brake lights.

I'm probably making a stupid oversights but it has me stumped.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards
    John

Thanks Mike, so it looks like I described pin 5 position incorrectly, obviously transferring my visualisations to words is not my strong point! But yes the pin in your picture is the one I checked, in fact I checked them all but no power to any when only the lights are on.

I just also changed both fuses in case but no difference, sigh.

If i'm not mistaken, sidelights don't have a separate wire in the harness and are only powered by your tail light circuit on the trailer.

Thanks Loanrangie, again my use of the English language fails me, when i said running lights I actually meant the tail lights, I've been reading too many American websites. Sory for the confusion.

Looking at the wiring diagram I have for the D4, those come from Relay R125 in the CJB along with the front sidelights, tail lights and plate lights. The trailer socket is fed from fuse 27P in the CJB.
