    Gear box fault warning

Hi all over the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting the gearbox fault message and restricted performance popping up intermittently, car is running fine gears are smooth in regular and sports also when towing not a problem when I stop and restart it’s all good. Question is would anyone around Fremamtle area have a scan tool so I can grab the codes and start to narrow things down. Oh 2010 2.7 D4
    Many thanks Bruce

I had the exact same symptoms on my 2010 2.7. It turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump. They commonly fail in this way.
Apparently the gearbox fault is a result of a sudden loss of torque to the box, so it gets confused and throws the code.
These were the two codes I got every time the restricted performanc/gearbox fault issue occurred.

I did a lot of reading at the time and IIRC either the pressure control valve or the volume control valve become worn and sticky. If one gets stuck the other tries to compensate but can only do it for so long until the rail pressure tanks and she goes into restricted performance.
You can see where I captured the moment with the IID tool.

I’ll be interested to see if your codes are the same.

Thanks again to everyone I’ve managed to get access to a scan tool in Freo, I’ll let you know what the outcome is. 👍

I have a scan tool in Freo which you are welcome to access, but its now set up for a 3.0L, so have a feeling it will not be of any help for your 2.7. Hopefully we can get get a guru response on that here soon?

I also have a BBS Rovacom IQ, but I've never managed to find the time to get it to work yet.

I'm not a guru, but if its an IID then it'll be all good. Thought you were up North Gav?

    Back last night from Kalbarri.

Tried to use my Gap Tool on Bruce's 2.7 to ID any faults in his D4 this morning, but either that is not intended to be allowed, or (more likely) there is a defect in my operating procedures. So I've lent Bruce my RovaCom IQ and OBDLink tools to have a play with.
