D3 Project Build (with Territory Motor)

    Hi All,
Thought I would start a thread for my D3 Project - good way to document things plus ask for help when I will undoubtedly need it .

Just a bit of background: I bought my D3 MY08 tdv6 project last year with a blown motor (as a result of the oil pump pulley failure for those playing at home ) with the intention of replacing with a Territory motor and building it up. A few of life's things got in the way so it was firmly put on the backburner until recently.

I have already purchased a second-hand Territory motor and have been slowly collecting parts to be on top of maintenance items and change as much as I can while the motor is still out of the vehicle.

At the moment I am part way through preparing the vehicle to remove the body - all exterior trims and bumpers have been removed, some of the engine bay items and various harnesses.

Attached photos show when I first received the Disco and the current, slightly disassembled state (apologies if images end up on their side).

Hoping my updates can be regular as that will be a sign of progress - I can't wait to get this thing on the road and start enjoying it.

Very briefly - but by what I've gathered it seems body off is the easier way? So that's the path I set out for myself 😊.

If you have a lift it would be otherwise I'd be leaving the body on.

Yep fair enough. I have a lift fortunately so body off would be better option for me. Honestly, if I didn't have a lift I probably wouldn't of taken on the project I reckon.

There is a good write up on here somewhere of a member doing this in great detail.
They also started to remove engine with body on but ended up finished the shed and fitting a hoist.
The post is a few years old but worth the read as many members have added their info as they went along.
    Regards
    Daz

Hi Daz, I am familiar with that one and you're right that is a good one. I will definitely be having a look at that one again, especially when it comes to swapping out the Ford engine parts for the required Land Rover ones. 👍

D3 Project Build (with Territory Motor)

Land Rover Discovery 3 (und vielleicht auch 4): TDV6 ohne Bühne daheim in der Garage ausbauen? GEHT! - YouTube

In German but useful video for non body off engine removal options. Might be helpful for someone else attempting this.

    Can get translation subtitles activated.
