55GBP from Island 4x4 but was part of a larger order so able to combine shipping. You will be wanting a genuine part.
For one off items I used to find the dealer in Perth prices quite reasonable. For walk in customers they often would give you trade prices - worst case you may have to provide an ABN (no one said it had to be your own ABN). 🤫
Correct. It is the crankshaft aux belt pulley (1341857) that you want to replace, and check the run out on the outer ring and reposition to keep this at a minimum amount.
Although in my case I noticed that the timing belt drive sprocket (005996) also had some runout which tells me it was not fitted truly square to the crankshaft. This runout then gets amplified on the crankshaft aux belt pulley.
Yes - I set up a dial gauge to measure the axial runout.
Land Rover Discovery 3 / 4 - Epic Oil pump test and compare TDV6 - YouTube
Very interesting oil pump video to finish off the engine rebuild from LR Time.
Sort of encourages me to do again at same time as timing belt change for the few extra $$.
I think alternator has to come off and does anyone know if sealant is needed on the lower surface on the sump side?
I am on the verge of buying a D4/L319 built 2015 (have a 2007 D3 atm). Service history is scant. 3 services by LR 03/2019, 02/2020, & 11/2021. Seems there is an independent who has serviced it also and will find out more tomorrow.
A day later and LR sent me a 'history listing":
- purchased probably 11/2015.
- 02/2018 - LR warranty claim - odo 76,200 km - 2nd turbo replaced.
- 02/2019 - odo 84,851 km - 48 month service. Notes: brake pads/discs to be replaced next service; 'slight' knock in lower control arms noted.
- 02/2020 - odo 93,984 km - 60 month service, brake fluid flush, 4 tyres replaced. Notes: RH rocker cover leaking oil. Also, what is a 'customer care' inspection?
- 03/2021 - odo 102,748 km - 72 month service.
- Between last service and following one, I suspect it was traded in to LR as the service sheet notes all internal charges ($8,965) and nothing attributed to customer expense on final history sheet.
- 09/2021 - odo 102,756 km. Replaced: high pressure power steering hose; front lower control arms; RH valve cover gasket; front and rear brake pads and discs.
I can't quite work out the pattern to using a combination of LR and (hopefully) an independent. I found out the suburb where the previous owner lived - silver-tail part of Brisbane - so they were unlikely to be scrimping on costs. Just baffled - why would you not use LR warranty service in the first 4 years of your purchase? I have put a deposit down and sale subject to the satisfaction of my independent who has serviced my D3 for at least a decade now.
Any thing jump out from the above that I should be thinking about regarding previous treatment-related near-future expenses? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
