Thread: D3 FAULT CODE HELP

P0341, P0342 is a camshaft sensor
P0042 is turbo related
P2290 injector control pressure

The remainder are EGR related. I'd look at the camshaft position sensor first as all of the other listed faults will put it into limp mode, but it'll keep running.

To get a handle on a fault code, put it into google. "Discovery 3 P2290" and have a look through the top hits. Most of them are pretty common.

Does this list look familiar?

Does the cam position sensor fault shut the engine down - that's the one that stood out to me.

Sorry to say this - but suggest reading to the end. For some hope, this thread includes other ideas on what it could also be. Do hope it is something simple.

Well Local Indy came out and checked my D3 and the news was not good. The above fault codes were all posted as the time belt had failed...............no need to describe results here.
The Timing Belt had approx 90K on it and was 6.5 years old. I was about to get it replaced but it had failed prior to me booking it in!
Cost to repair is aboout what the 2007 D3 is worth so I guess I will have some spare to sell in the not to distant future.

A Territory motor is a cost effective replacement or if you are lucky yours might be repairable, what were you doing at the time it stopped - stationary or mobile ?

Hi loanrangie, My son was on the way frm Gawler to Mildura and had just overtaken a G1 B Double at 110ks and it died quietly on the dash cam footage, so could be belt failure or tensioner pully but all covers still intacted up front.
I can't do the work myself and my Local Indy said using a secondhand motor could be putting good money after bad. I was looking at Jeffcott Ford on fleebay the other day and they had new 2.7 TDV6's for sale at $11,400 but they all went pretty quickly.
I am still considering a repair but Sovereign Auto in Adelaide said a replacement/repair would be around $25k.
