    Clearview compact on 2014 D4 SDV6

Has anyone installed Compact Mirror Product - Clearview (clearviewaccessories.com.au) on their D4's.

We are increasingly taking longer touring trips with our van and whilst the Brunsgaard mirrors have been faultless I would consider a more permanent option.

I haven't liked the look of original and next gen versions, but the compact might be a better it.

Anyone running these? What was the installation like and could they be reverted back the original mirrors if needed?

When we had our D4 we used the Milenco Grand Aero mirrors, as the Clearviews are, imho, way too big for the car and make them look like Dumbo. The compact clearviews do look better, but I always found the factory D4 mirrors to be excellent, only reason for the milenco's was legality and being able to see a bit further around the side of the van. For short trips (1hour drive to local bush camp-site for a weekend), I'd often 'forget' the towing mirrors, had no issues with visibility on the factory ones.

Re install, I'm sure it's the same as per the full size clearviews, and would involve removing the inner door skin. Careful install should see you being able to revert to standard, I don't believe there's any modifications requires to the mounting points. Suggest you drop clearview an email with your car details and question. I'm sure they'd be able to advise.

I had Clearview Compacts on my 79 Series so while not a D4 they were great.

The amount of extension on them is amazing.

I think my friend had these on his D4 2.7lt before he sold it and bought a Ram. He seemed very happy with them

They look better than the 'standard' models from Clearview, thats for sure.

They have indicators and Blindspot monitoring LED built in - I wonder what it would take to enable these on a vehicle that doesn't have either from factory...

    Hi Ashes,
while I haven't tried Clearview's new Compact Mirrors, I've fitted (and removed) a set of the original Clearview mirrors to our MY12 2.7D4. I've still got them in a box, but with our current camper find no longer need them to have a reasonable view along the sides, so have gone back to the OEM. (I agree with Eric's comment re the 'Dumbo' look ).
Fitting and removal is an easy process (watch the installation video on the Clearview website). I can't imagine that the mirror mounting/connections have changed between our MY12 and your MY14 D4 so should be fine.
    Good luck

I've got a query out with Clearview in relation to the fit of compacts on the later model D4. I'm leaning now to installing these for their function and obviously can revert back to the original mirrors if the looks bother me too much or remove and onsell if I upgrade the vehicle down the track.

Not all functions are available for all vehicles either (Blindspot indication, built in indicators, electric folding).
