Not sure if it's doable on a D3 but I use to remove the engine mounts on my rangies for easier access to the top bell housing bolts.

OK I have answered my own question.

So for people that don't have a hoist this would seem like a possible option.

maybe he is that good... his workshop, his choice.
my guess is he has done heaps and really is that good (and likes the hassle of doing body on) or ... he has never done one.
while yes doable... my question is why... so easy and simple body off.

Either way, for the sake of yet another Discovery 3 or 4 owner stuck with a failed engine that its a hassle free job for you.

my suggestion is stay out of his way, dont tell him how to do his job. The end result may well be cheaper.

Has its pros and cons. I've been on my own for five years now. You get used to it, but some company can be nice.

I'll be travelling alone in the OKA if I ever go.

You'd like me as a customer. My mother's mantra was 'What the eye doesn't see, the heart won't grieve'.
