    REVERSING CAMERA OCCASIONALLY NOT WORKING

    Lately, sometimes but not always on wet weather days my reversing camera ceases to work. I get a warning tone and the screen informs me the camera is U/S.
    Later that day or next, it would be ok. Presumably 'something' had dried out.

    I noticed the rear (and possibly the front) proximity sensors don't work when this happens so I assume they are on the same circuit as the reverse camera.

    Yesterday I got the warning tone the camera was U/S although the day was dry, no rain.
    Sounds like there is an intermittent fault.. loose connection maybe.

    Can anyone tell me if one proximity sensor is U/S will it cause the problem?
    Does one dud sensor cause the others sensors and the camera to go on sick leave?

    Once its dry and working again, try unbolting the plastic housing enough to create a gap between it and the tailgate (the big plastic thing with the land rover logo on it)
    Put some sealant around the edge to stop water ingress into the housing and bolt up, dont go too nuts with the sealant in case its a camera fault and you need to replace it.

    Mine occasionally doesn't work and Barbagallo checked it out but couldn't find any fault. Now I just go back to neutral then in reverse and on it comes OK. So no real problem and I'm used to it and it doesn't cause any hassles.

    I'm reasonably convinced its a proximity sensor playing up.
    The fact that I lost it immediately after going thru a large puddle in the road which was around 100mm deep but I went thru at walking pace.
    Thereafter, I'd lose it only on a rainy day after travelling a few klms from home.
    Its only in the last week that it has started doing it in dry weather.
    When I park the car and return to it later, everything is working fine.
    I'll wait for a total failure which will enable an easier diagnosis.

    Initially lost upper tailgate release and occasional camera function, but as this was overcome using key fob, it wasn't an immediate problem. Could just replace the microswitch but felt better replacing the harness & switch. Harness arrived without the rear-view camera connection.
    Over the next six months the intermittent camera failure became permanent.

    After failing as reversing out of a parking spot, I gently nudged vehicle behind me, denting rear plastic skirt & panel. Insurance claim $700 excess.
    The home carport requires me reversing in from access road as the access road is narrow as is the carport opening. Well after reversing and gently nudging opening to a new position twice, with rear mounted spare wheel carrier, I was informed to fix the camera or sell the D4! ($600 repair to carport)

    Whilst being serviced had my Indy check camera circuit, with the verdict of new harness being required.
    Apparently, the optic fibre is prone to issues, and as this is an integral item in the sensory circuits, you also loose proximity sensors.
    Received replacement harness from wrecker this morning only to be faced with access to upper tailgate panel issue.
    Another chapter in being a Disco owner.....

    You may be on to something here.... my upper tailgate solenoid has just stopped working and I have one on order.

    Also will fit a remote cable assembly which I ordered and rec'd very promptly from Land Rover Passion. A nicely made kit with excellent instructions.

    Will be interesting to see if the camera starts behaving itself after solenoid replacement.

    Lately, it has stopped working even though not raining, and will invariably come ok within a short time, usually next time I start the engine.
    When the camera ceases to function, the parking sensors also do not work.
