    EGR and Brake Fault Codes

    Hi all.

    Looking for some advice please.

Started my D4 2010 2.7 TDV6 170000ks yesterday and not long after driving off, the dash lit up with all sorts of failures. Transmission fault. ABS not functioning. Emergency brake not functioning. Lowered height for safety. Hand brake not functioning. Just a crazy list. Connected my Gap tool and following fault codes shown:

P1335-21 (28) Exhaust gas recirculation position sensor minimum stop performance - General signal failure - signal amplitude<minimum.
P0571-62 (6C) Brake switch A circuit - Algorithm based failure - signal compare failure.

I dropped into my Indie and he said EGR valves are shot, which I understand is a common problem. Cleared codes and off I went. Fault didn't show up for the rest of the day. Car is booked in next week to deal with EGR valves. Given my last experience with fuel pressures replacing HPFP, ECU, 6 injectors, filters, etc I'm a little nervous at the cost.

I often left foot brake to keep power and revs up and was told that this could confuse the ECU and trigger the brake fault codes, which will then trigger everything else.

    All thoughts welcome.

    Thank you.

Thanks Tombie. I'll stop doing that. Do you think that also triggered EGR fault?

    Thanks again.

Not likely, should change the brake switch if it hasn't been replaced before, ford territory SY model switch is the same.

I'll do that this weekend. At least I've eliminated that aspect. I don't think it's ever been changed. Thank you.

It will be cheaper to blank the EGR's than to replace them if that's what the shop says needs to be done.

They will need to be coded out on a D4 - and if its throwing codes, do they need fixing anyway?

That's what I meant, leave them in place and just get the software patch.

If they’re faulty, no software patch will help on a D4. The self test will still fail and flag a fault. The patch only changes the pattern of operation under normal use.
