    cost for 108 month/ 234K service

    Hi All,
My D4 SDV6 is due it's 9 year or 234K service (done 195K though) and I am wondering what is actually included?

I have one proforma invoice that a LR dealer sent me, as to quote him, " it is a big one at $3580".
includes the LR065238 PAN - TRANSMISSION OIL at $720 (replacing it i assume? or is this just the oil and filter cost?),
9L of LR023288 FLUID - TRANSMISSION for $1360 (equals $151 per litre!) and
    $855 labour (I assume labour at $120/hour = 7 hours work)?

    Everything else is reasonable.

    regards
    Peter

Find a good independent LR mechanic…I’ve been using an indie for most of my D4 life and the savings / knowledge you’ll get are invaluable

    As a comparison
Transmission pan / oil : ~$500 vs your ripoff amount

At 234k you should have changed the transmission oil a few times by now (unless listening to the LR “sealed for life” BS)

Seeing you are based in Mudgee..you may need to drive a little…but it will be worth it

A good Indi is the go,as said.

At $120/hr,that would be the cheapest LR labour rate in the Country, by a country mile.

Thanks for the replies and confirming my suspicions.

so what LR indies can people recommend either in the Central West of NSW (assuming there are any) or in Western Sydney?

It's just the auto service pushing the Price up. Any local auto trans shop can do it. And they are usually cheap. You could source all the parts with help from on here, (MJ products from Victoria(eBay)) is my choice for oils and parts. Then the local can just drop and change it. No dramas.

    Thanks Josh,
I have been looking at the MJ website as well!
I will ask one of the local workshops to see if they are happy to do the work.

Better still. Get your local to call them and order what they need. Just get genuine oil. It's so cheap and easy to do. My local charged me $150 labour for the last service. I left parts he needed in the boot.

There is a indie not far from you in Bathurst, I haven’t used him but a couple of blokes I’ve spoken too have and said they are happy with him.

Buy the MJ kit and 20l drum of Penrite BMV and DIY. You will save yourself about a grand or more

    hi,
All sorted with Pan and oil coming from MJ in Melbourne and local mechanic to do.
    10L lifeguard oil for $160 = $16 / litre NOT the $151 / litre from LR dealer!
    Pan for $350'ish.

Interestingly, I requested another service cost quote (twice) from a Western Sydney dealer (where I bought the car from originally) and funnily enough they haven't been brave (stupid) enough to send it to me!
The reason i worked out the $120/hr labour was they quoted the job as being 7 hours and $855 labour. But sounds like it is 3-4 hours ($213 to $285/hour)
