    Engine Fault - Injector Timing

    Hello,
I recently had two injectors replaced (5&6) due to them both being far out of tolerance, causing excessive unburnt fuel smoke.
Unfortunately, the car only ran well for about 300km afterwards, before delivering an engine system fault code and running exceedingly rough, lumpy as if it's running on 5, not 6.

I put my GAP Tool to work and it suggests P020F - Cylinder 6 Injection timing.

The indy who did the work is happy for me to take it back and they'll sus it out, but I'm asking if anyone is familiar with this code or fault?
I'm not keen to drive it the 25km to the Indy until I'm relatively sure what I've got.

FWIW, I've previously (5yrs) replaced the HPFP, and I've done a physical check to rule out obvious faults like harness and connections etc.

Anyone offer any clues? I've some video of it running rough, but not smart enough to upload!

The DTC suggests that the injector is faulty.

Yes, I'm suspecting that as well.
    Hope it's nothing more.

A quick internet search revealed that the ECM attempts to calibrate injectors on engine overrun and will post that DTC if the injector is out of spec. If a wiring fault then there would be other DTCs.

When you had the injectors #5 and #6 replaced, were they correctly coded to the ecu? Also, usually (at least in my view) all injectors would get replaced as a set, they've all seen the same duty cycle. Diesel injectors are not serviceable due to the very fine tolerances in the injectors tips, it's a new for old replacement on these, and best to stick with oem (Bosch I think they are). Also make sure they use new crush washers and the little supply hard lines. You do not need a hp diesel leak under the bonnet with one or more turbochargers under there.

Dont think 2.7 D3 injectors need coding.

Correct. The ECM process that triggered the DTC is on-the-go calibration.

    Update:
    All's good in the hood!
The folk at MR Automotive Mechanical (who performed the injector swap) were happy to have it back and take an immediate look.

Scanbook as well as my IID Tool identified the same code as well as some additional info - indicating injector 6 electrical timing signal fault.

On preparing to remove the injector, it was found the harness connector had not been seated all the way or had vibrated loose!
Firmly pushed home and everything works as it should,

All in all, a rare simple win.

    Cheers
