We looked at loads of V8 petrol HSE before we found the Antichrist. If I knew then what I know now I’d have bought a petrol. Based on my mileage and consumption, 5 years later I’d still be ahead.
Currently I have D4 SDV6 and D2 td5 and considering possibly D3 petrol to replace my D2. I know it will consume a lot and probably more expensive to run on fuel compare to diesel version.
There are not many people talk about the D3 petrol and wondering whether because it has less issue or because not many people have D3 petrol.
I am hoping to hear any advice/issue/what to look for about D3 petrol from D3 petrol owner or anyone that knows about the D3 petrol.
Thanks in advance

MY08 D3 - The Antichrist - "Permagrimace". Turn the key and play the "will it get me home again" lottery.

SupporterHad it since just before 100,000k. Now up to about 216. No signifiant problems other than a new alternator, but I suspect it’s the same one a Diesel would have anyway.
Only petrol issue I know to be careful of is the timing chain needs replacing in the mid to high 200s. Will start making a noise in ours soon I guess. The problem with it is it’s a body off job to replace the chain, so very expensive. Car will be worth nothing once the noise starts I guess.

SupporterOne of the neighbours purchased one last year for $4k I think and it has over 500k km on it. As expected the interior is a bit worn and the clear coat is coming off the paint but otherwise it’s going strong.
