Just thought someone out there might be interested to know, I recently had the over joyous experience of repairing my Electronic Parking Brake actuator and as a matter of course replacing the rear brake rotors, pads and shoes on my 2011 D4.
It only took me a week, pretty good huh.

Yeah I am fully aware of this problem as well, I found that the diameter of the spring wire is too big for the holes in the shoe's it is supposed to fit into so I measured the wire diameter and reamed out the hole in the shoe, just enough for the spring wire to go through, I also found the very end of the wire where it also is supposed to go through the shoe is slightly too long, so I modified it by grinding a millimeter or so off, with these two mod's done it allowed the spring to slip straight in, once it is stretched to the right length.
Aftermarket stuff, didn't check to see if they can from China or not though
