Thread: Alloy coolant outlet for TDV6

To be fair, Borg & Beck don’t make the coolant outlet.

That blame would go to the company that bought them out in 2006. And even then the actual manufacturer of what is effectively an aftermarket product of unknown origin remains a mystery.

Good to know what brand to avoid.

I know it's sad you just can't seem to trust big business anymore.

That’s where these forums are worth the price of admission.

But the whole Genuine vs True OEM vs Defacto OEM vs Aftermarket is fraught with danger.

It is hard enough when a genuine engine manufacturer with over 100 years in the business gets it wrong……(yes looking at the blue oval).

Yes, they are all going to say "made to OEM spec" so you can't really argue with that.

Hopefully it was just a bad batch at the time as I am pretty sure I fitted the same brand coolant outlet to mine.

Why? I never had a cast alloy thermostat housing last 7 years on any Holden, Ford or Mitsubishi....

Holden and Falcon/Fairlane, the most reliable, albeit amongst the most appliance like, cars I've ever owned.
I've never had to replace a thermostat housing on any vehicle I've owned.
