    Cheap disco with issues…

Buying a cheap disco 4 at the weekend. 2.7l. Issues known are air bag light on and headliner sagging. Had a quote already for headliner at $400 so not too bad. I’ll tackle the airbag light later but the seller has said that the car goes into
Limp mode every now and then. He doesn’t have the codes so I know it could be anything at this stage.. a bit of a gamble but I’m looking forward to joining the group. I’m in Cleveland, south Brisbane .

    Hi Steven,
I'm not sure what level of experience you have with the 2.7L D3, so apologies if you already know this.
I strongly recommend that you ascertain that the oil pump has been upgraded to the newer D3 version with a "reinforced bracket."
The original oil pump tended to fail after timing belt replacement and re-tensioning. The newer one has a "gusset" added to it to provide strength. It did the job.

On the subject of Timing Belts, ascertain that the Timing Belt has been replaced in the last 130,000 km or so. I think the Replacement Interval for the belt is 150,000km, so no rush, but best to have it on your Service Plan.

Yes, the headlining on my D3 is sagging. I have got used to it, but $400 for a replacement is a great price. Well done.

    Safe travels Steven.

if its a D4 it already has the later style of oil pump, was only the early D3 that suffered this.

Let’s face it, it’s probably better than an expensive Disco with issues.

I thought a "cheap Disco" was in the same category as a Yowie. They are rumored to exist but no one actually has one.

    Cheap as in to purchase.
As long as buyers go in with eyes wide open you can get a hell of a lot of vehicle for 10K or less.

Hi Steve, if you want some useful feedback on this vehicle you may want to post a little more detail.
IE, year, make model, number of K's. ETC....
Low fuel on 2.7tdv6 is usually HP fuel pump but can be a number of things. Faulty rail sensor etc......
If you need a fuel pump I can may be able to help you out depending on year.

Start with replacing the filter and see how it goes, next would be the pressure sensor on the fuel rail.
