						Super ModeratorG'day all,
We're getting to the point of test driving now. I know what a slipping clutch feels like and how to test for it. Have no idea on these slushboxes.
If I were taking a 2.7 for a test drive, what would be the best test conditions to bring out TC shudder or transmission issues?
Regards,
Brad

SupporterAccelerating on an incline seems to be a common one.
When cold, if you reverse then take your foot off the throttle you can sometimes get a shudder then, at least I've felt that happen on one.
Mine, which is booked in for a squiz, shudders inconsistently, but seems to be more prominent when accelerating gradually from low revs and under a fair load, such as up an incline, in 2nd, 3rd and perhaps, 4th gears. Murphy being Murphy, when Trannyman was test driving it, it took quite some time and stop/start efforts to get a wee shudder out of it.
Mind you, the very knowledgeable tranny bloke was a tad mystified by my D3's symptons. Hence the squiz!

SubscriberYep, slight incline, 3rd gear, light throttle gives you the best chance of seeing if they are starting to go, watch for a fluctuating tacho, as an actual shudder can be hard to pick if the TCC is just starting to slip.
Mine would shudder on a slight incline at freeway speeds, so 80 to 100, even throw up a fault which cleared immediately but then seemed to alter the auto or engine program so it ran a bit more revs, which cleared when car restarted.

had mine rebuilt but got a poor job done and to get them to sort it I have to send them the box! $3k to remove and install so I just put up with it.Transmission place told me to put two tubes of shudder fix in which I did and make no difference.
Not that I should have to after having it rebuilt.
It had a reco TC installed that was supposed to be upgraded with D4 to make it more suitable for heavy use.
Not a shudder as such but surging at low rpm so dawdling at 60kmh it will surge up and down. On highway @ 100kmh it does not seem to do it.
anyway it is drivable.
