    Brake Adjuster Spring

So I am replacing the park break shoes with Bendix ones, the do not have the little hole to attach the small spring above the adjuster in the picture. Bodsys Brake Bible doesn't mention it so I assume it not essential?

Or do I drill the new shoes to fit the spring?

    Thanks

    Garry

I would have thought the spring was essential.
I thought I was wrong once, but it turned out I was mistaken.

I would drill the hole, it is essential and wouldn't assemble without the spring.

It's not just a hole it is also a channel for the springs. The EPB is such an essential part of the system that I would only ever go genuine.

Earlier models did not have the small spring at least mine doesn’t. I think it’s an anti rattle feature.

I didnt think yours was early, i mean 05-06 i consider early. They also aid in shoe retraction otherwise they would be constantly dragging on the drum.

Yes I’d never had it then I bought a rebuild kit which had it and I was thinking I got the wrong kit on an [emoji[emoji6Brake Adjuster SpringBrake Adjuster Spring]Brake Adjuster Spring[emoji6Brake Adjuster SpringBrake Adjuster Spring]][emoji[emoji6Brake Adjuster SpringBrake Adjuster Spring]Brake Adjuster SpringBrake Adjuster Spring] build car.
