I wonder how well FTC Decarbonizer - Diesel Engine Decarbonization Products would work. It works exceptionally well in combustion spaces.
I agree Brad.
However, all the vanes are on the turbine side, it would be near impossible to get anything in there without either putting it through the engine or pulling the turbo off. I wonder how effective the stuff would be after being burnt in the engine?
You could try pulling the exhaust I guess and spray something in there.
I've got one BV50 turbo (2.7 TDV6) that was so carboned up I couldn't physically move the vane lever even with it pulled off the car.
I've used a number of litres of 2 stroke oil on our cars attempting to stave off replacing the turbos, it has had limited success, but not enough to call it a "fix".

If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
I think I was going to use a product called "sea foam".
I never did, but I have cleaned a carboned up vane assembly with repeated application of oven cleaner on a bench with the turbo partially disassembled, and it did a good job.
But note the repeated applications..
Carbon is a bitch to clean away. My experience has been with an oxy torch using an oxidising flame to burn the carbon away. My initial thought was to use the FTC product, but while I've used it personally I've never relied on the result. I'm tempted to try it in the boat over a season and take before and after shots of the turbines, but I'm not entirely sure I'm that invested.

Yeah they are. That may be the case, but in my experience with 2 stroke at actual oil ratios (like between 25-50:1) there's potentially a tiny bit of oil in the exhaust. In the proportions recommended in a modern diesel I can't see there being anything left in the exhaust. I could well be wrong because my wife tells me I have been before (she wrote it in the calendar).

i use FTC on all my diesels and have done so since i first heard about it when i was hearing about all the issues the model of vw caddy i owned at the time, had major dpf issues.
i have never had an issue with egr, dpf or turbos for that matter since using it. touch wood.....
