Hi Chris,
The version of Oziexplorer that you have is probably for notebook computer, so is designed for Micro$oft WinXP.
The XL488, PDAs and some mobile phones use a cutdown version of Windows called WinCE.
Ozi supply a CE version for $40. Site The Official OziExplorer Web Site - GPS Mapping Software for Magellan, Garmin, Lowrance, Eagle, MLR Receivers
You can download for free & trial to see if you like it.
Most GPSs use custom operating system, so it is difficult to hack into it to run other applications.
XL488 actually tells you in user manual how to run other applications.
All you need to do is download Ozi CE version & copy to 2GB or 4GB SD card (don't buy HC type as not compatible). Orificeworks has 2Gb Sandisk SD cards for $19.95
You then need to download free maps from https://www.ga.gov.au/products/servl...EFINE_PRODUCTS
Convert them using converter from Oziexplorer and copy to 2GB SD card.
I currently have all of Australia, inc Cape York, Frazer Island etc together with OziexplorerCE on one 2GB SDcard.
PM me if you need help with any of this.
Cheers..Bruce
