A question without intent, does anyone know the specs of the DBA D3 rotors (& pads) compared to the OEM ones?

Read somewhere recently on Disco3 that OEM pads are a unique
compound with considerable thermal range performance.
Was suggested that copies are not worth the chance .....
As for the discs, I've not heard any info. All these parts are so
    infrequently changed,just use LR parts.

and this is worth a measure too http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic2...ight=thickness .. ditch 'em , don't cut 'em .

Mate of mine with a TDV6 was today quoted $948 from LR for a 48k service. A well known local LR service specialist quoted $250.

$700 diff? LR will loose the job.

Sounds like we all need to know where to go to save money. The specialists I know don't have the right equipment to service a D3. Infact, I'm not sure that one of them has a metric tool set...

    Cheers, Steve

Today, Austral quoted me over $500.00 + GST for 1 right hand foglight.
Must be to match their service pricing.

Basic parts pricing is set by LR Australia, not the dealer. Having said that, the dealer is free to charge whatever they want, with no reprisals from LR Australia.

In comparison, Subaru prices are set by Subaru Australia and if a dealer charges any more than that price then they are in trouble. Subaru conduct regular audits to ensure their prices are adhered to. I had the "pleasure" of a Subaru audit when I worked at a dealer. Fun fun fun.

Obviously its cheaper to go to an independent specialist than a dealer .

However, the D3s are very much computer/ecu driven, and when a D3 has a "hiccup" with its computer, and the D3 doesn't do what its supposed to, presumably LR's computer boffins would find out why, and send out a service advice, and a computer upgrade for their dealers to download into their customers D3s at service time .
This would hopefully done before to many other customers experience the hiccup .

This leads to the obvious question - would independent specialists have access to these upgrades ?
And if not, when you go to a non LR dealer, are you taking a chance on experiencing said hiccup sooner or later ?
Naturally, Murphy's Law would say this will happen when you're in the middle of the Simpson desert .
Alternativelly, if your having your serviced at a non dealer, can you go to a dealer and say " plug my car into your machine and download any upgrades and I'll pay you for it " ?
