    D3 Alternator Capacity

    Hey All,
Does anybody know the "Amp" output of the standard disco 3 alternator ?
I have just installed a second battery system, tow a camper with a battery system (charging via Anderson plug) and going to use a 12v(non factory)outlet in the rear for a fridge. Too much ???
    Cheers

guarentee it'll be more than 85 amps..

    depending on config fozzy runs

up to 4 batteries, 2 starters and 2 deep cycle
    an engle (sometimes 2)
up to a 12 amp draw for the vehicle electrics (20ish at night)
    a sine wave inverter intermittantly
    a serious 12v compressor
    work lights
    laptop charger
    phone charger

and only has a 35 amp alternator. mind you he also gets some help from about 5 amps worth of solar panel (in full config the trailer is on with the solar panel on that)

so no, I think your covered with the stock alternator but youd want to have a look at your charging system to make sure its configured correctly..

big red has 85 amps and also runs all of the above.

D3 is 2.7 litres and more than capable of towing 3.5 tonne, wouldn't even notice all that crap.

Question just asked on disco3 about running two large capacity deepcycles in a van on top of an optima second battery.
Concensus was no problem, D3 will just switch off a few things if voltage drops and only then if the batteries are flat.
