    D3 Woes

    Hi all,

Our tdv6 SE has just clocked 120,000 kms and will be 3 years old in sept.

After wearing out the original tyres and replacing with Coopers HTs we settled on Generall Grabbers and are on our second set - seem to be going well.

As we hit 110,000 we have had some problems with the vehicle.....
1 - Suspension warning light goes to amber and wont change height- resets once turned off until the next pothole. (dealer cant find the problem)

2 - the outside temp gauge on the dash displays --- No biggie I thought However it controls the climate control so now our air con works on Burrrrrr or JFC its hot!!!! (quote of $1100 to fix)

3 - One of the halogen high beam lights has broken its mountings (quote $1100 to replace)

4 - rear doors refuse to open - the solenoid makes a noise but wont release the back window. (dealer never heard of this happening before no quote yet)

5 - hand brake screaming when applied - dealer able to repair on second attempt.

The two recalls affecting our Disco will be attended to when the dealer gets some parts.....

Can anyone recommend a service agent in southern or central NSW (or Sydney for that matter!!!!)

Is it legal to run driving lights and ignore the broken high beam light? Lightforce 170's are about $470 fitted - work very well on my ute.

    Thanks

Sorry to hear about your issues, but the dealer should do better than that.

    1. Could be the compressor. Mine did a similar thing and then went at 120,000km.

    2. The aircon is controlled by a sender inside the cabin (it's behind the little vent thing to the left of the steering wheel).

    3. Did someone bump it ? Try insurance.

    4. That's a known issue.

    5. They should be able to fix that first time! Needs a clean and re-adjust. Possibly one of the most common annoyances.

    6. GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALER.

    Go to Trivetts.

    Clarification ..........

Do you mean Bixenon or inner halogen high beam function ?
    A Dealer who hasn't seen a stuffed hatch ....... where's he been hiding ?
Have you had the height sensors replaced during fault hunting ?

Definately need a different dealer should be covered and fixed under warranty.
Write the LanRover Australia noting all the issues which have failed during warranty, just incase they arn't fixed before it ends.

Light bracket should not brake unless actually damaged.

Suspension could be as simple as a short in the brake light or globe.

The rear door needs the trim off and this is usually damaged in the process so they need to fix.

Give Gary a ring at Alto (artarmon) see what he says.
    They know what's what.

    Hi Hazeldean 1,
I guess from your location that you are going to the Canberra dealer. If so, you are probably aware that LR changed dealers at the beginning of this year (for which I'm not surprised and very grateful).

This probably means that you are now dealing with Lenocks ('sp).

While they are new to the D3, the statement that "we haven't come across this before" or similar, is irrelevant, but they seem to have a better reputation in the wider motoring community.

I believe that Canberra Motor Works may be an alternative for you, but they are an independent.

I also heard that there was an independent service centre being set up in Mittagong, but have not heard anything further. It should be well up & running by now.

I accept Caver's comments re Alto, he has a very good relationship with them - and that's important.

At the same time, I agree with Jamo's suggestion re Trivett. I use the centre in Parramatta (actually near Rose Hill race course) and have been very pleased with them.

    HTH,
    Peter

I wouldn't touch Lennocks with a barge pole, every expeience I have had with them has been expensive, painful and requires return trips.

Canberra Motor Works are great, Ray knows the vehicles really well, and although he is at the higher end of the charge scales, IMHO it is worth it.

I've had some good experiences with Lennocks and would happily recommend them as being far better than Rolfe. They are short staffed and lack experience as none of the mechanics came across from Rolfe which leaves them on somewhat of a learning curve. Canberra Motorworks are very good and would be an alternative since you are out of warranty.
My D3 goes in for the recalls on Monday, I've been waiting for a month to get it in there. I would imagine that they are pretty busy.
Grant, the service manager at Lennock and seems to be doing his best to assist me.

    Regards,
    Tote
