Anybody using the KC Hilite 70W HID spotties ? or 55W IPF 900XS conversions ?

Hi, I have been researching spotties for a while and would like to know if anybody is using the KC 70W HID's and if they fit the front on an ARB bar and still able to remove the grill behind for cleaning or if somebody is using the 55W conversions with the IPF 900XS's as the second choice ? With the dollar rising against the greenback, KC's would be nice. Would be going for two spreadbeams. Dodging cattle up my way is a hourly/daily thing when travelling and I still don't know why people need to see 3kms up the road in a 4WD even when travelling over the speed limit, my reactions are a little quicker than requiring that distance and I'm not on a superbike doing 250+ when a 3km view would be handy.

I'm running IPF900XS in my old Defender. They are good and very well sealed from dust and water. I used to think they were a fantastic light until I put LF 240HID's on the Puma and then realised what I was missing

Be careful of the IPF's with HID as when I looked at them last year I found they had none of the weather sealing on the 900XS version that the halogen version had.

Also you don't need 55W or 70W HID in fact these will give a very harsh unnatural light and the bulbs will not last as long. You are much better off with 35W HID at around the 4200K temperature as the light is more natural and they last a lot longer. This is what is used in most OEM fittings and in heavy machinery lights.

Thanks for your input. The KC's are also 4200k. the reason I was asking about the 55W HID conversion in a IPF 900XS was so you get the sealing of the H4 version with a HID. In a recent test ( 4X4 Australia ) the KC's blew everything else away and the light was spread in a better pattern than all the others with the IPF's second. The only negative is the greater cost of a KC.

I'm assuming that's a typo, but just in case IPF900XS are an H9 bulb. If you can retain the seals then these are an excellent light.

I've put diffusers on my LF's as the pencil is just way to much and who really needs to see everything at 1.2km as if it's daylight. This way I can see everything I need to. I've thought about upgrading the IPF's but haven't done anything about it.
