I fitted four new ATR's 18" on my D3 about a month or so ago. I rang just about every tyre outlet in SE Qld (and some in Sydney and Melbourne even) and none had any stock, and all had the same story about Pirelli Australia bringing some in on a slow boat from China sometime in the next few months. None sounded very confident about this though.

In the end I did manage to find two tyres from a Bob Janes store locally, and ordered the remaining two from TireRack in the USA. Price for the imported tyres (even allowing for air freight etc) was very slightly cheaper than local stock. With the Aussie $ now closer to the yank, it would be cheaper still. If I had to do it again, I'd get all four from Tirerack. Kinda sad state of affairs really....

    Hi all,
Can anyone recommend what tyre pressures I should be running with the 255/55/19 Pirelli ATR's?
    Cheers, Craig

    Hi Gedaso,

Just wondering what the freight charge and import duty was for the tyres you bought at tire rack. Thinking of doing the same thing.

    Cheers

For the two tyres I bought, this is what it cost in US dollars:
    SUBTOTAL: $454.00
    FREIGHT: $250.15 (FEDEX INT’L ECONOMY)
    TOTAL: $704.15

Because it came in under $1000 aussie dollars, there was no GST, duty etc on top. If I'd bought four tyres, it would have been a different story (10% import duty plus 10% GST on top).

    Thanks for this Gedaso.

Even with the the two lots of 10% charges, it's still cheaper to import 4 tyres from the US of A.

    Shame really....
