Thanks - I don't have rear air so that sounds good.
I will enquire more about splitting consignments shortly.

Chuck
Not an issue...if you're polite, pay the full f+b fee, chuck in an alignment as well then they're ahead on the deal. Never been a problem in the past.
I would be interest in purchasing 4 x BFG AT-KO All Terrain tyres from the tire rack in the USA for delivery to Gold Coast.
Chuck - would freight be any cheaper for 1 order of say 9 tyres (5 for you and 4 for me) to be delivered to 2 addresses in Aust?
Cheers,
Matt

It is definitely cheaper to import 5 tyres than 2 consignments of 2 & 3.
If we were both in the same city I am sure the freight would be cheaper for nine tyres to one location.
I got a second price for the BFG's in Melbourne today - $500.00 supplied fitted & balanced.

Hi Chuck,
I just got a price from Tire Rack. Delivery for 4 tyres is US$298. BFG All Terrrains in 265/65/18 are $246. So delivered for 4 tyres is US$1,282 or around AUD$1,410. I currently run 20inch RRS Stormer wheels for around town daily driving and want to use the 18inch standard alloys as my off road rims. I am also considering changing to a 17in rim so I can get some BFG Mud Terrains in 245/75/17. Price is US$196 a tyre. So around $1,190 delivered. Bargain. Most of my off road driving is on Moreton, Fraser and North Straddie so lots of sand work.
Would I be best going for a BFG All terrain or the muddies? Any thoughts anyone?
Cheers,
Matt
Why the heck does it cost so much when our dollar is almost even stevens with the US dollar.....methinks the tyre dealers are not passing on the savings? Maybe with a little bargaining you might be able to do better here? $500 for a tyre.....man it would have to be special for that. Isn't it funny how as the wheel sizes go up, so do the tyre prices.....it's like computers and memory/power, as it goes up, so does the price......think about it, no more rubber but you pay more for the privilege. Maybe the car makers are in cahoots with the tyre manufacturers? Hey we'll release a new model.....let's increase the wheel size, next D5? will it have 22 inch wheels?
Hedley,
What is even worse is that I enquired with Goodyear Customer Service about placing a special order for a set of MTR's that are not available in the size I want in Australia although readily available in the US.
They wanted twice as much for a tyre than I can buy off a retailer in the US & then they quoted me $700.00 sea freight with 5 month delivery when tyre rack quoted me $380.00 air freight with 5 day service.
Now that is a rip off.

Chuck
