    Fuel indicator

I have a disco 4, 2.7. Just wondering how accurate other owners fuel gauges are? Our Fuel gauge shows tank is on empty and estimated km left in tank shows about 40km. Fuel light hasnt come on yet. Decided to fill it, and only could get 70 litres into it.

My D3 fuel gauge has got worse with time. It used to be reasonable, red light 80-100 kms (about 10 litres), now it is more like yours, empty (0 range) generally has 10-12 litres in the tank.

    Hi,
As you have said in your subject line, it is a fuel INDICATOR (my emphasis). Its accuracy reduces with the variability of the conditions (and, perhaps, anyhow). It would be unwise to put too much reliance on it.

    Best Wishes,
    Peter

    Fuel Indicator

I have a new Disco 4 3.0 HSE and have filled it 5 times. Same story - fuel warning comes on showing 30 -40 km to empty but I can only ever get 70-72 litres in the 82 litre tank. Fuel consumption figures (10.5l/100km) agree with 70 litres being used so that's accurate.

    HI Disco 4SE,
That's consistent with fuel consumption and 10-12 litres remaining in the tank. Must have close to dry though! I saw your battery conversions. Who did that and does your other fittings? I need touch bar (maybe), and roof racks. ARB tell me they haven't done any development work yet on Disco 4

Ho XOA, BJP Auto Electrical Rosebud did the second battery, DVD set up etc. I purchased my roof racks from Autobahn Mornington. They are the Whisper racks, similar to the Rola ones only quieter.
I am interested in a Sahara type bullbar.
Let me know if you or anyone else knows of one
    Cheers

I'm sure I read that the 'distance to empty' and the strip guage work OK, but the empty point on the guage is when the fule light will come on, then you have about 10l left in the tank.

Don't know where exactly I read this though!

    fuel guage

Im about to fit a 92Lt long rang tank to my D3, this tank do,s not have a transfer pump, it is conected via a pipe only and drains into the main tank. My question is how will this afect the Lts/100 kms and distance to empty? display, do I have to tell the ecu that the tank now holds 174 Lts? The fuel gauge I would imagine would work normally.
Or will I just have to work my ecconomy out with a calculator again like my old defender.
