    Clelo,
That's going to be in the too hard basket.
Effectively two cars need a new key and to be re-paired.
From what I was told at the Wollongong dealer, when you get a new key they have to recode the access on both keys and the car so that the missing key can't be used again. It's the security protocal.
By giving you another car's key, they have doubled the problem....
Unless it was already a 'dead' key....
There is a serial number and bar code on the side of the fob under the folding key so you'd expect a dealer should be able to identify what car it belongs to.
    Good luck.
    Rob.

I brought a key on fleabag from UK for 80 bucks dealer programmed it to suit the car free of charge. Worked perfect. This was for a 2010 car. This key couldn't be re programmed for a 2013 car, so again we sold it on Gumtree for 80 bucks. The only thing was the blade key we never bothered to get re cut.

I'll see if they will reprogram mine
    Still no contact
Looks like another visit in person
Not sure if security issues will allow for a key cut
Might still be up for $400 for a new one?

From what ive read of the uk distributors, re-rogramming is no issue and the key can be cut at any Mr Minute.
It's just that they are mostly second hand.
I collect my new one Friday- let you know what happens.
    Regards
    Rob.

    Thanks Rob
Got the dreaded lurgy so I haven't chased the dealer
New key cut and a reprogram sounds much cheaper

Got the new key, works perfectly looks very smart and free of scratches.
For the rivet counters - its very slightly thicker than the original one.

Clelo, I still think you should make it the selling dealer's problem....
They supplied you the wrong key, surely you can insist they rectify it, if for no other reason than used car warranty?
Different matter if they said there was only 1 key, or didnt provide the other as in my case.
But they sold you a car with 2 keys, so you are entitled to 2 working keys.
I'd be insisting they rectify the situation or raising it with fair trading.

Hope you shook off the lurgy too, I had it hang around for 3 weeks!

    Chasing seller and local dealer
Glad of the forum because I was quoted $700 until I mentioned what you had paid
    Cost is back to reality
I just have to chase it up

Hi. Same issue - bought an '07 D3 from a local Perth dealer & only on taking delivery was I told there was one key. Been quoted $800 by Southern Landrover. Found one for $220 on fleabay but LandRover told me they won't code it. Any advise from any Perth locals? Cheers.
